Strengths:
High energy events, documentary and authentic moments, using natural lighting, being a fly on the wall/observer, portraits and getting creative! (& I love catching movement)
One word to describe your photography style:
Emotive/Poetic (pretend it's one)
Format:
35mm, Digital, Medium format (I also paint and use textiles in my personal projects to print photos onto - for tactile, experimental and muti-media outcome.)
Favourite memory:
I had a gig to photograph of the support act - and managed to meat IDLES when they were just starting to grow. The energy in the now sadly closed venue in Plymouth (The Hub) was electric and the crowd created a epic mosh pit scene as I photographed it from above. It really was the true evidence of the power of music and how it brings people together.
Why are you a photographer?
For the past 10 years from when I first picked up a camera to now, I have had an undeniable excitement to capture the everyday moments that perhaps to others seem nothing out of the ordinary, but with a camera at hand I believe I can show those around me the beauty in the mundane and themselves as they are frozen in time in a magical frame, no matter the time or place.
I believe in collaborating with my ‘subject’ so that I can represent those I photograph in the truest light. I look for authentic moments, free and joyful where the person shines through with their unique story worth being told.
Everyone deserves to be seen, heard, and understood and I like to think that by the power of a ‘click’ I can do that for people.
What is your long term goal?
Honestly, to make money doing what I am good at and enjoy! This way I can effortlessly serve people with my knowledge, skills and bring them joy. To me that would be freedom and total peace.
What was your favourite personal project?
My 'Divine Feminine' project that focused on Muslim women in the UK. This was a very special, intimate experience that resulted in some of my favourite work. Not only that but I also felt honoured to get a glimpse into each individuals lives and spiritual practices.
I was also pleased for it to have been broadcasted as a interview on BBC Radio Devon too, which helped to spread their stories and bring awareness to some of those who were refugees.
What would you like to do more of?
Work with large format/do more alternative practices and get reconnected with tradition, making photo books, working with others who are excited to try something new and creative! And photographing lots more weddings (even better if they are somewhere over seas...)
Your favourite work by another photographer:
Bob Willoughby, Audrey Hepburn getting into Studio car, 1953.

10 years freelance photography experience
Darkroom and printing specialist (3years)
Strengths:
Fast pace events, portraiture, narrative based projects, being part of the action and getting up close, creating towards print format and books, working across different mediums - digital and analogue.
One word to describe your photography style:
Social Documentary
Format:
Digital, 35mm, medium format, large format, outputted to print and books.
Favourite memory:
Photographing the thrill of protests in London when I was studying in college, learning why photography is important socially and realising it can be used as a voice in many ways. These memories always come back to be when being in a loud fast pace and chaotic environment with me camera in hand. I created some really engaging work that resulted in my first fine art prints and rolls of medium format and 35mm film.
Why are you a photographer?
I first fell in love with the analogue process in college at 18 years old, learning the history of photography and how it came to be in the modern world, it is science, art, history, a fascinating study politically and socially. I also found how I can express my ideas through personal projects, it allows me to use the whole world to be creative and to focus on a variety of subjects, to articulate something and to have a strong body of work that can be studied and displayed academically and artistically.
What is your long term goal?
To be able to consistently serve others through photography and to use it as a way of giving people something to remember. To live off of what I have to offer and to build an extensive network within the commercial photography world, and to be recognised through my work.
What was your favourite personal project?
5 year documentation of HipHop in the South West of the UK. This is my most creative and involved project that gave me a lot of inspiration for book the book 'Eye Of The Storm' it is a multimedia photo book consisting of contact sheets, scans of music artists set lists, posters, cds, mixtapes and single photographs all taken on 35mm and medium format film. This project allowed me to explore a subculture that is somewhat under the radar in Cheltenham, UK and it showed where music starts in many ways, in the homes and in the streets of young adults.
What would you like to do more of?
|Through Regency Photography I would like to shoot a lot more wedding and couple portraiture, to celebrate love. In my personal work I would like to use large format cameras and film a lot more to photograph individuals and groups of artists and social settings. This medium gives immense detail and a beautiful look to the images. I would like to explore more fashion based work too, such as controlled lighting and construct portraiture.
Your favourite work by another photographer:
Sebastião Salgado - Amazonia. specifically "Pana (Saulo) Yawanawa"
